Terri Fornear openly shares her struggle with God’s goodness during her husband Joe’s battle with Stage IV cancer. During that time, she discovered ultimate answers to ultimate questions. Her mind underwent a spiritual “surgery” to cut out the cancer of lies about God. Her religiosity, devotion and love for God were replaced by His love, devotion and freedom for her—all by applying Jesus’ finished work on the Cross for her. In her book, she focuses on how the Father always speaks of His love for her which motivates her to love others. And she stresses the importance of letting God take care of oneself before giving to others, even family. To spread these truths about God’s goodness, Terri and Joe Fornear launched Stronghold Ministry in 2008. Stronghold is a nonprofit ministry that provides spiritual, mental and emotional support to cancer patients and those in crisis. Terri’s focus with Stronghold Ministry is on counseling; small group studies; and support and prayer groups for patients and others in crisis. She is gifted at helping others see and face what they really believe about God’s goodness and the lies which bind them up with fear.

Terri Fornear is a Licensed Language Therapist and Family and Individual Life Coach. For 25 years, she has worked with children, teenagers and adults to help them face emotions that have blocked academic, relational, social and spiritual success. In 2008, Terri co-founded Stronghold Ministry with her husband, Joe. Stronghold is a nonprofit organization which helps cancer patients and those in crisis to discover God’s salvation, truth and love in the midst of difficult times. Out of the depths of her own experiences and challenges—lifelong learning differences, her husband’s near-death battle with Stage IV cancer in 2003 and being a pastor’s wife for 18 years—she has navigated a range of life’s emotions.
